Learning through art

It is undoubtedly true that the implementation of visual art education in learning institutions encourages not only the academic achievements of a child but ensures a healthy holistic development for his/her entire life. Art instruction helps children with the development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and inventiveness. Visual arts teach learners about color, layout, perspective, and balance all techniques that are necessary for presentations (visual, digital) of academic work.

Integration of art and design courses in academic organizations is no longer considered a luxury. It is a necessity. Presently researchers have concluded that art has a crucial role in creating well-rounded, well-prepared learners and readers. Art education provides challenges for learners at all levels. It connects students with their own culture and exposes them to the wider world. Visuals help children to cope with problems of forgetfulness, thus improving their memory and cognitive skills. Recollection of steps while creating an artwork also enables children to retain their memory and exercise brain function. However, schools might often fail to realize the potential and possibility of a single child as there are other kids too in the room. Here is where we need art education outside the classrooms too. Fine art classes are designed with curriculums where every single subject has a different exercise with mediums and techniques taught in depth. From drawing, painting, and sculpting to digital art every concept is explained practically in live classes. Children understand the processes and finished projects are demonstrated with detailed explanations. Creating artwork involves several processes. Kids in drawing classes understand how to visualize, compose, learn technical implementations of perspectives, and analyze and apprehend concepts of colors. They gain practical experience in working with different kinds of mediums and exercises with two-dimensional as well as three-dimensional projects. These classes sharpen their vision and knowledge of aesthetics and they are bound to excel in all fields of academic performance. A notable improvement in speech and vocabulary has also been observed by many researchers when children interact and participate in art classes. Discussing their work opens up new dimensions of creative imagination and stimulates healthy brain function which ensures better learning and understanding.

The art of visualization, the ability to make the right decision in crucial times, self-confidence, communication skills, and critical thinking are all essential for us to sustain ourselves in life irrespective of whatever field of study we pursue. So visual art helps in the effective learning of children and prepares them for undertaking all future endeavors.
